What this actually checks
Most DNS tools ask one resolver one question. This one walks down from the root servers and then interrogates each of your nameservers separately, because the interesting faults are the ones where they disagree.
Registry vs zone
The nameservers your registrar publishes should match the NS records inside the zone. When someone changes one and forgets the other, the domain works from some networks and not others.
Serial numbers
Every nameserver should be serving the same version of your zone. A server stuck on an old serial is the classic cause of "it works on my phone but not my laptop".
Mail and deliverability
MX records that point nowhere, a mail server behind an alias, two competing SPF records, a missing DMARC policy — the usual reasons email quietly stops arriving.
