Installing Apps with Softaculous

Softaculous is a 1-click app installer for WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, and 400+ other applications.

Access Softaculous

  1. Log into cPanel
  2. Scroll to Software or Softaculous Apps Installer
  3. Click the Softaculous icon

Install WordPress (Example)

  1. In Softaculous, find WordPress
  2. Click Install
  3. Configure installation:
    • Protocol: https:// (if SSL installed)
    • Domain: Select your domain
    • Directory: Leave blank for root or enter folder name
    • Site Name: Your website name
    • Site Description: Brief description
    • Admin Username: Choose secure username (not "admin")
    • Admin Password: Strong password
    • Admin Email: Your email address
  4. Scroll down and click Install
  5. Wait for installation (usually 1-2 minutes)
  6. Note admin URL and credentials

  • CMS: WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, PrestaShop
  • Forums: phpBB, MyBB, SMF
  • Wiki: MediaWiki, DokuWiki
  • E-commerce: OpenCart, Magento, WooCommerce
  • Project Management: ProjectSend, OpenProject

Managing Installed Apps

  1. In Softaculous, click Installations
  2. View all installed applications
  3. Options for each:
    • Edit: Change admin password or URL
    • Backup: Create backup
    • Upgrade: Update to latest version
    • Clone: Duplicate installation
    • Remove: Uninstall application

Automatic Updates

Enable auto-updates for security patches:

  1. Go to Installations
  2. Click edit icon next to installation
  3. Enable Automatic Upgrades
  4. Configure email notifications
